Welcome to Wake Forest!
The Office of Residence Life and Housing is excited to provide gender–neutral housing options for all students who choose to live in mixed-gender rooms/suites. For incoming students, this will be rooms/suites clustered together in an area of a residence hall with private bathrooms (toilet and shower areas). As a part of this process, students will be asked to complete additional questions on their Housing and Dining Application. Students who request gender–neutral housing will then be contacted by staff from the Office of Residence Life and Housing to discuss the best way to accommodate their housing needs. During the process, no student will be asked to disclose their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
For questions, concerns, or assistance with the Gender Neutral Housing process please contact any of the following individuals – Zach Blackmon, Assistant Director of Operations and Interim Assistant Director of Assignments, in the Office of Residence Life and Housing at (336) 758-5185 or firstname.lastname@example.org; or Angela Mazaris, Director, in the LGBTQ Center at (336) 758-4665 or email@example.com.
Already submitted your housing application and want to make a change? It’s not too late! Housing applications can be edited until July 1!
Lower Division Advising
Next month, you’ll receive your Course Preference Survey. The information in this survey will be used to register you for your first semester of classes, and to match you with an Academic Advisor. Students have the option to request advising from Dr. Mazaris, the Director of the LGBTQ Center, or other faculty who have completed the LGBTQ Center’s Safe Zone Workshop. Look out for the request box on your Course Preference Survey!
Mark Your Calendar
Mark your calendar for the LGBTQ Center’s Welcome Back Pizza Party, Wednesday, September 4th from 5-6:30pm! This is a great way to meet new people and check out campus resources. Allies welcome!
Also stay tuned for the fall dates for Queer First Year, the LGBTQ Center’s identity space for first year students.
