Welcome Class of 2029!

On behalf of the Wake Forest University LGBTQ+ Center, welcome to Wake Forest! We are so excited to welcome you to the Demon Deacon family!

We know that getting ready for college can raise LOTS of questions, but don’t worry — Wake is full of amazing people who are here to answer your questions and support you at every step of the way! Here are a few tidbits of information that may be of particular interest to our LGBTQ+ and ally students:

  • Want to make new friends and build community before setting foot on campus? Join our GroupMe for LGBTQ+ and ally Class of 2029 WFU admitted students! This will also give you first access to our Queer First Year program, an awesome way to build community while navigating your first year at Wake. Check out our website to learn more about the programs, events, and resources we offer – or better yet, follow us on Instagram. 
  • The residential experience is one of the key aspects that distinguishes Wake Forest and is a fundamental aspect of the student experience. Students of diverse sexualities and gender identities, and/or students who simply prefer to live in a mixed gender environment, can opt into All-Gender Housing for their first year residential experience. You’ll be able to select this option when you complete your Housing and Dining Application. 
  • Meet our #LGBTQ@WFU community through connecting with current students. Check out their profiles below and feel free to reach out to any of them! They are excited to connect with you and answer your questions even before you get to campus!
  • Visiting campus? Stop by the LGBTQ+ Center in Benson University Center, Suite 311, to check out our awesome space. The space is typically open during the academic year from Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (once you’re a student you can request card access and use the lounge any time you can access Benson!). Want to meet with staff and/or students while you’re there? Email lgbtq@wfu.edu to schedule a meeting!
